yup, I've done a bit of melting plastic to things on the stove. The smell alone taught me a lesson never mind the cleanup.
yup, been there! Managed to melt a whole plastic plate onto a solid hob once, the toxic smell was shocking (thankfully it was in our pre-baby days)!
This is why I refuse to buy plastic utensils...
Well, I'm glad I'm not alone. And Cody, I've been considering doing "Don't Use Plastic Utensils" as an obvious kitchen tip. You just made the decision for me.

opps.. I did that once on a brand new toaster oven.. yuck!
Oh yeah, I've done that a few times. Heck, it's so hot here in Malaysia that the same thing happens if you simply leave a bag on the counter for too long :P
