Vegan MoFo Day 9: Wedding Reception Food

A couple months ago I wrote a letter asking if the chef for a wedding reception we were attending could make a vegan meal for us, since the rest of the reception food would not be vegan.

Well, I got a letter back from the manager of the establishment and she just happened to be raised vegan! What are the odds?

Answer: They're getting better and better every year!

Gooooooooo vegans!

Ahem.

So, the wedding was last weekend and they served us a portobello sandwich on some great bread with veganaise and tofutti cheeze and a great beany soup thing. It was good. Not punch the table good, but it was vegan and tasted good and we were thrilled to not have to stop at a restaurant between the wedding and the reception.

And to top it off, the favors on the table (you know, those little candies or chocolates that they put on the table for desert or to take home) were little vegan Endangered Species dark chocolate bars.

Gooooooooo vegans!

That's awesome! I'm not sure I'll even get anything I can eat at my DAD'S wedding this month!

Awesome. I've been thinking about emailing the chef at the hotel we're planning to elope/honeymoon at in hopes of getting a vegan treat for our first meal as a married couple... and I don't have much hope that they'll be accommodating.

if we weren't having an incredibly small wedding i'd invite you to ours - it will be all vegan. planning it is a b*tch, but i think it'll be worth it... especially the cake. :)

Hooray! I'm just glad to hear it wasn't another pasta dish with red sauce. I swear that's what I always get at weddings. Or they think they can call the vegetable side an entree for you!

Woot! That's so awesome. I wish any of the weddings I went to were that vegan-friendly.
